Yes, most repair and diagnostic visits start with a service call fee that covers the visit and diagnosis; it typically applies toward the repair if you move forward. Ask for the exact number when you book.
Do I need a permit for this work?
Panel upgrades, rewiring, new circuits, and generator installs almost always need a permit; smaller repairs like replacing a switch or outlet usually don’t. We tell you upfront whether your specific job needs one, and we pull it ourselves rather than skip it.
Will the power be off during the work?
Only on the circuits being worked on, whenever that’s possible. A panel upgrade or full rewire does require the main power off for part of the job; we schedule that window with you in advance rather than surprise you with it.
How long does a typical job take?
A repair or diagnostic visit is usually same-day. A panel upgrade typically takes a few hours to a full day depending on inspection scheduling. A whole-house rewire can run from several days to a couple of weeks depending on home size and wall access.
Do you pull permits and handle inspections?
Yes, on any job that requires one. We schedule the inspection, meet the inspector, and walk you through what passed. A job that skips the permit can’t be verified later, which becomes a real problem at resale or with insurance.
How long does a panel upgrade take?
The physical swap is usually a few hours to a full day. The power to the house is off only during that window, which we schedule with you in advance. Permit and inspection scheduling around it can add a few days on either side.
Will rewiring damage my walls?
Some opening and patching of drywall or plaster is unavoidable to reach existing wiring, we coordinate patching as part of the job rather than leaving it as a surprise. We’ll walk you through exactly what’s being opened before we start.
Can you install dimmers on any light fixture?
Most fixtures, yes, but LED and older wiring sometimes need a compatible dimmer to avoid humming or flickering. We check fixture and bulb type against the dimmer before installing, not after.
